Sue Shields

Sue Shields has been creating art formore than 30 years. In the early years as a struggling, self –taught artist she realized her need for formal instruction. While living in Arkansas Sue had access to workshops conducted by several nationally recognized artists. Artists such as, Doug Dawson, Albert Handel, Maggie Price, Joseph Fettingis, Mike Mahon, Charlotte Wharton, & Arkansas artist Richard Stephens, Bill Garrison, Gary Simmons. Sue was very fortunate to have studied portraiture for three years with Ovita Goolsby. These artists all have contributed greatly to her growth as an artist.

Sue works in oils, pastels, graphite,and watercolor. Her choice of medium is influenced by the subjectand inspiration often derived from family, friends, and travels.

Sue is honored to have been accepted into the Oil Painters of America. She is also is a member of The Portrait Painters of America, Colored Pencil Society, and the Pastel Society of Southeast Texas.

Sue Shields’ work hangs in homes across the United States and in the UK.

The Monday Studio Artist, of which Sue was one of four, have collaborated in writing and publishing a book, The Monday Studio. They also realized a shared dream of opening a fine art Gallery and now, having closed the Gallery, these four Artists are continuing on their creative journey.

Sue Shields recently moved to Texas andis very excited to continue her creative journey.

My goal as an artist is to share with you my view of our world and its’ people. Color is my language. A brush, pencil or pastels are the tools I use to create this picture story.
