Rockport’s Tour of Homes is one of the two major fundraisers funding free admission to the Rockport Center for the Arts throughout the year and a free children’s summer art program.

(ROCKPORT, TX) The saying “home is where the heart is” truly comes to life with the showcase of residences featured at the annual Rockport Center for the Art’s Tour of Homes. Visitors are in for a rare treat while getting a first-hand look at homes that might very well be featured in a decorator magazine or architectural publication. From permanent residences to coastal retreats, each home reflects the passions and interests of its particular owner. The unforgettable 2010 tour includes six spectacular homes ranging from thousands of square feet to quaint, charming bungalows as well as one 39-foot trawler. As a friendly, authentic place, these Rockport gems are opening their home to offer a range of decorating and landscaping ideas to inspire all homeowners!
“The owners of the homes have chosen to live in Rockport. It’s not something they have to do, but rather want to do,” says Pat Thomas, 2010 Tour of Homes Chairman. “While their personal tastes vary, they share a lot of the unique lifestyle and natural beauty associated with our little piece of paradise.”
Tour of Homes will be held on Saturday, April 17 and Sunday, April 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Tickets are $20 each or two for $35 in advance on or before April 16. Tickets may be purchased at the Rockport Center for the Arts or at any of the homes on the days of the event. As one of the two major fundraisers for the Center, the event funds free admission for visitors to the Center’s three galleries and the operation of Art Link, a free summer art camp program for Aransas County students in grades one through eight.
The Art Center looks forward to welcoming over 1,000 people on the 2010 Tour. More than 250 docents will staff the six homes and one boat to answer questions during the tour. They relay anecdotes including specific and detailed information about art collections, specific building tidbits, and creative family touches.
