Ricardo Ruiz Completes His Mural "Every Question is a Key"
The mural is an acrylic on board painting depicting the stories from books and the spark of imagination that comes from reading. Ricardo Ruiz has been an exhibiting artist since 1984. He received his BFA from Corpus Christi State University and his work is in the permanent collection of the Art Museum of South Texas and University of Texas - San Antonio. His works generally portray stories from his family's folklore and regional folklore. A native son of Corpus Christi, Ruiz can often be found at the Anita & W.T. Neyland Public Library with his family.

This project was commissioned through the City of Corpus Christi's Percent for Art Program which offers opportunities for artists to create site specific, permanent works of art within the city of Corpus Christi. Its purpose is to expand the opportunities for the citizens of Corpus Christi to experience art in public places, to encourage the inclusion of works of art in private developments in the city, and to encourage economic benefits.

For more information on the murals or on upcoming Percent for Art Projects, please call or visit the Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department's Cultural Center at 361-826-3410, www.ccparkandrec.com (click "Arts & Culture").
