RCA Welcomes New Board Member: John Speck

John is a certified K-12 Art teacher and administrator with 10 years of service in public schools and currently serves as Assistant Principal at Live Oak Learning Center in Rockport.  John was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas.  There, he was influenced by world-class museums such as the Kimbell, Amon Carter, and the Museum of Modern Art.  John holds a Bachelor of Arts, with a double-major in Art and Philosophy, from Texas State University. 

In addition, he has also earned  two advanced degrees; a Master of Education, with an emphasis in Secondary Education and Art, from Stephen F. Austin State University, and a Master of Science in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University.  He is also a part-time Blinn College instructor, teaching Art Appreciation through Distance Education and teaches various courses here at Rockport Center for the Arts.Recently, John designed the image for ACISD’s “Plotting the Course” initiative promoting post-secondary education. 

John’s wife Jamie is also an artist.  Her work was recently on display in the Main Gallery in the Merit Artist Exhibition.  We are please to have them both as members of our community and we look forward to John’s service on the Board of Directors.
