2014 Art Festival Jury Announced

Christi Mathews owns and operates Mathews Gallery & Studios in Aransas Pass, Texas. After a career as a freelance commercial and fine artist specializing in maritime art, she moved to Florida with her husband Angus and focused on her artwork in a variety of mediums: acrylic, watercolor, pen and ink, pencil, and oil. Mathews style leans toward detailed realism. After moving back to Texas in 2002, Mathews opened her gallery and studio which showcases nationally known artists as well as serving as a full service frame and print shop.

Joe Pena received his BFA from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, then moved to New York City where he assisted in the development of MB Modern, a contemporary art gallery which operated for six years until relocating to Houston. Pena then worked for Babcock Galleries in New York for four years, then returned to Texas to complete his MFA in painting in 2005. Since then, he has served as the Public Arts Manager for the City of Corpus Christi, then as Gallery Director for Texas A&M Corpus Christi, where he currently serves as Professor of Art with a concentration in painting.

Diana Byers Pena is an instructor of photography at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, where she also serves on the board for K Space Contemporary, a non-profit space dedicated to promoting contemporary art. She's also worked for the Art Museum of South Texas and the Corpus Christ Festival of the Arts, and holds an MFA from Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi.
