In Memory of Walter Samuel (Terry) Falk III

HELLO FRIENDS,

 

THEMEMORIAL SERVICE CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF WALTERSAMUEL (TERRY) FALK, III WAS HELD JULY 15 (SUNDAY) AT THE UNITED METHODIST CHURCHIN ROCKPORT.  MORE THAN A HUNDRED FRIENDSJOINED HIS FAMILY IN REMEMBRANCE.

THE POWERPOINT PRESENTATION OF TERRY’S LIFE CREATED BY HIS WIFE, RHONDA, ANDCHILDREN:  SHERRY, NATHAN AND BEN WASSHOWN.  THEY AND SEVERAL FRIENDS OFLONG-STANDING RELATED REMEMBRANCES OF TERRY, AND OF SHARED EXPERIENCES.

TERRY WAS AGREGARIOUS INDIVIDUAL WHO HOSTED HIS ANNUAL “SUPERBOWL”, “OCTOBERFEST”, AND“FALKFEST” BAR-B-CUES. 

HIS MANY FRIENDSFROM AUSTIN,HOUSTON,  AND OTHER CITIES ATTENDED RECEPTIONS AT THECHURCH AND THE FAMILY HOME IN ROCKPORT.

HEGRADUATED FROM ARANSAS COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL IN 1963, RECEIVED HIS BACHELOR’SDEGREE FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS IN AUSTIN, AND WAS WORKING ON HIS DOCTORATEWHEN HE DECIDED TO BECOME AN ARTIST.  HISWORK WAS DISPLAYED AT THE “RENAISSANCE MARKET” AT THE CORNER OF 23RDAND GUADALUPE, ACROSS FROM THE CAMPUS. HE WAS A CO-FOUNDER OF THE MARKET, AND HIS WORK WAS STILL DISPLAYEDTHERE DURING THE CHRISTMAS SEASON AND OTHER SPECIAL OCCASIONS.

THE FAMILY MOVED BACK TO ROCKPORTSEVERAL YEARS AGO.  HE TRAVELED AND SOLDHIS ARTISTRY OVER SEVERAL STATES, AND HAD JUST PRESENTED HIS PAINTINGS AT THE“ROCKPORT ART FESTIVAL” THE WEEKEND BEFORE HE DIED ON JULY 10 (TUESDAY) 2007.

TERRY’SPARENTS, COL. WALTER S. FALK, JR. (USAF, RET.) AND ANNE FALK, AND SISTER, PATTY, SETTLED IN ROCKPORT IN THE EARLY1960’S.  HIS FATHER, WALTER, WAS MAYOR OFROCKPORT FOR SEVERAL TERMS.
