Two of the World's Foremost Sculptors Under One Roof
Two of the art world’s best will exhibit together under one roof for the first time in Rockport as internationally acclaimed sculptors Jesús Moroles and Kent Ullberg will showcase their award winning works. Free and open to the public, the exhibition will take place Wednesday, May 13 through Saturday, June 13. A gallery talk and opening reception will be held Saturday, May 16 from 4:30. until 7 p.m.

Moroles works in granite and Ullberg primarily in bronze, but both have a special connection to the Texas coast as well as the Rockport art community.

John Aasp, director of Visual Arts, and exhibit coordinator said, “Although their work may appear different in many ways, both artists have made substantial contributions in the world of public art and sculpture.”

He added, “It is an honor during our 40th anniversary to host two artists who have roots in the Rockport area and whose careers have led them to international accomplishment. Both artists are known for monumental outdoor sculptures, but this exhibition will be a window into their current practices, with smaller sculptures, drawings, and indoor installations.”

The Rockport Center for the Arts hosts the artists permanently in its Sculpture Garden with Ullberg’s Rites of Spring (dedicated in 2000) and Moroles’s Lighthouse Fountain (dedicated in 2002).
