Franklin Sirmans, prize juror for Shorelines, to be Chief Curator at LACMA
Franklin Sirmans, currently Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Menil Collection, Houston, will be joining the Los Angeles County Museum of Art as their Chief Curator of Contemporary Art in 2010.

Sirmans will be visiting Rockport Center for the Arts on Thursday and Friday, October 15 and 16, to award jury prizes to the top selections from Shorelines, an international juried exhibition for excellence in Coastal Art.

A native of New York and a 1991 graduate of Wesleyan University, Sirmans is known as a critic, editor and writer as well as a curator. He was an editor at Flash Art and Art Asia-Pacific magazines and at the Dia Center for the Arts in New York before moving to Houston.
