Directions to Crane House:

From Rockport proceed North on Rte 35 over Copano bridge to Exxon gas station on right. Take right at Exxon station and go 1.4 miles to stop sign with oak tree in middle of intersection. Take left at stop sign, on Palmetto, and proceed .9 mile to second stop sign and end of blacktop. Go straight, down gravel road, to Crane House gate. Someone will meet you at gate and give simple instructions to Crane House.

Be prepared to see Whooping Cranes, deer, wild hogs, Sandhill Cranes and maybe even a snow goose. By that I mean bring the appropriate lenses for tight shots of a single animal as well as large, multi-specie, group shots. Sunrise, 7:00, is when the action typically starts and there is enough light for photos. To that end we can be on the property at 6:30 which will give plenty of time to give minimal tips and instructions and set up. If all goes as planned….the animals cooperate…. we will shoot for about 2 hours and then head to the Rockport Center for the Arts for some late morning food and beverages. We will set up there to go over editing some of the photos we have just taken. Bring a laptop if you have one. On your laptop have a photo editing program already loaded out. We will be using Picassa, which is a free internet download, Adobe Elements and Adobe Lightroom. If you cannot bring a laptop, bring the USB cable that comes with your camera and we can download a few of your images to my laptop. I plan on spending some time with each of you, both shooting at the Crane House and then editing your photos.

I am looking forward to meeting and working with all of you.

Thank you.
