A New Era
A Message from Luis Purón, Executive Director
Dear Members,
On Saturday, December 10, we will finally open the new Rockport Center for the Arts. Did you know that it has been exactly 2 years, 8 months and 1 week since we relocated the historic Kline’s Cafe Building to its new location three blocks away?
Economic development, generated by our capital project is already happening. New art galleries, artist studios, bars, spas, and other businesses are calling downtown Rockport home. Real estate is being improved, new products and services are being offered, sales tax is being collected and reinvested in our community.
The $12.5M the Rockport Center for the Arts has invested in a new campus will multiply and draw more businesses and development to the area. In the past three months, I have received inquiries from two galleries in Johnson City that want to relocate to Rockport, near our facility.
This is only the beginning. And we want you to be a part of it. Whether you attend a concert, a cooking class, a lecture, an art class, buy a Christmas gift, pop-in for an Instagram moment in the sculpture garden, or check out a new exhibit; Rockport Center for the Arts will have something for every member of your family. Good, wholesome, family activities that will improve the quality of life of our citizens and draw tourism to the Texas Coast.
My job is to make your leisure time in Rockport more enjoyable. With a diverse program and event structure, 2023 promises to be the dawn of a new era in Arts, culture, and the humanities.
Texas, we are open for business!
Luis Purón
Executive Director
