Shorelines
Our second national juried exhibition, Shorelines brings together artists from all over the state and nation to celebrate coastal life, no matter the medium. Entries were juried by award-winning artist Larry Felder, and prizes will be awarded by Rene Paul Barilleaux, Chief Curator/Curator of Art after 1945 at the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio.

Prize Juror Rene Paul Barilleaux is currently Chief Curator and Curator of Art after 1945 at the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio. Prior to joining the McNay in 2005, Barilleaux held a number of gallery and museum leadership positions including Chief Curator at the Mississippi Museum of Art, Curator of Exhibitions at the Madison Art Center in Wisconsin, and Curator for Collections and Exhibitions at the Museum of Holography in New York City. He received his MFA from the Pratt Institute in New York City in 1981.
Barilleaux has organized numerous exhibitions of modern and contemporary art and alternative media; written, edited, and designed related publications; taught, lectured,and consulted; and been active in many facets of museum administration and the visual arts.
Shorelines Entries Juror Larry Felder is a former resident of the Texas Coastal Bend where he owned and operated Felder Gallery in downtown Rockport. After relocating to Costa Rica, Felder Gallery moved to Port Aransas where his son Rob continues to exhibit new and recognized talent from across the state and beyond.
Felder studied painting at the University of Texas under Michael Frary, and spent several years as a creative director for commercial advertising. Today he is known for his large carefully rendered paintings of coastal scenes and reflective water, receiving numerous awards and commissions for his work. Always influenced by coastal scenery, Felder continues to work diligently from Central America, publishing regularly to his blog An Artist Moves to Costa Rica at http://larryfelderart.blogspot.com/
