Seven Views of Texas

The Rockport 9 is a group of local artists who came together during a workshop with past poster artist Carol Koutnik in 2009. The founding members included Koutnik, Angalee DeForest, Anita Diebel, Susan Forrest, Mary Frazier, Lisa Baer Frederick, Caro Jackson, Ann Reimer, and Betty Shamel.

Together they decided to travel and paint the many landscapes of Texas. Most of their paintings are captured en plein air (outdoors), though some of their finished work is completed in studio.Their first trip to Big Bend and Fort Davis would coalesce in their first group exhibition at Rockport Center for the Arts -- West Texas: Nine Perspectives.

Following the success of their first show, the group traveled to several more locations over the next few years, including Palmetto State Park, South Padre Island, the San Antonio Missions, and other stops in the Texas Hill Country. Their most recent trip to Palo Duro Canyon took them to the Panhandle, another unique part of the state.

The group has exhibited at the historic Estelle Stair Gallery in Rockport, the Wine Seller in Boerne, and at the University of North Texas Health Science Atrium Gallery in Fort Worth.

Seven Views of Texas represents a look back over five years of traveling and painting together, with artists June Ainsworth, Angalee DeForest, Anita Diebel, Susan Forrest, Caro Jackson, Carol Koutnik and Betty Shamel exhibiting.
