Rising Eyes of Texas 2018
(ROCKPORT,TX.)Every year Rockport Center for the Arts hosts a statewide, juried exhibition for undergraduate and graduatestudents emerging in the visual arts.Three winners are awarded cash prizes, $500 for first prize, $300 for second prize, and $200 for third prize. This year the winners will be selected by Rainey Knudson.
Rainey Knudson founded Glasstire, the oldest online-only arts magazine in the country, in 2001. Glasstire is the premiere source of online art criticism for Texas and beyond. Rainey resides in Houston.
For this year’s exhibit the work of thirty-four artists representing sixteen universities across the State of Texas will be shown in the Main Gallery. Exhibition curator, Elena Rodriguez says, “This is easily one of my favorite shows of the year. I love seeing the ingenuity and voices of the next generation of artists. And I hope that they come to see Rockport as the unique artist colony that it is.”
The exhibit opens to the public on Saturday, March 10th with a reception from 5 to 6:30 PM. The show continues through March 31st, 2017.
