Vorakit Chinookoswong
Seabrook artist, Vorakit Chinookoswong, known as V. Chin, has been crafting fine porcelain and stoneware pieces for over 30 years. A veteran of art festivals and gallery shows throughout Texas, Chin creates glossy stoneware vases, bowls, cups, and other pieces bearing his signature mark: a clay frog. Striving for a balance between aesthetics and function, Chin's goal is to create "good" ceramics. His subtle glazing adds an extraordinary level of elegance to his pottery.
Born in Thailand, Chin moved to Japan at an early age, where he graduated from the Kyoto Institute of Technology. He trained as an apprentice with prominent Japanese ceramic artists before moving to the United States in 1980.
V.Chin also offers small group pottery classes for adults of all skill levels at the Ceramic Store of Houston, Texas.
He is represented by Archway Gallery also in Houston. Chin has exhibited at the Rockport Art Festival.
For his solo show he will display dozens of fine porcelain and functional ceramic pieces.
For the Clay Expo V. Chin will do a free Pottery Demonstration at the Art Center on Sunday, February 7th from 11 to 1 PM.
To kick-off the exhibit, V. Chin will have a gallery talk on Saturday, February 6that 430 PM.
The gallery talk will be followed by a reception from 5 to 7 PM.
