Hand building with Ken Reese.
There will be three projects to choose from: Platters, birdhouses or boxes (two different styles).
Supplies, tools and glazes will be supplied.
The first class we will construct the pieces of pottery. Then the pieces will be left at the Art Center to dry and be fired for the first time (Bisque firing to 1830 degrees F.)
In the second class, we will clean and glaze the pieces. The pieces will again be left at the Art Center for the final firing, this time to 2230 degrees F.
They will be available for pickup approximately a week after the last class. Firing schedules are approximate. It takes about three days to fire a kiln load (takes several days to heat up to and then cool down from 2230 degrees).
If you have your own tools, feel free to bring them to the classes. The clays and glazes that we use are food safe when used as designed.
