Join Artist’s and twin sister’s, Karen Rester and Sharen Chatterton in this repurpose/ reuse Art Junk Journal Workshop. In this workshop, we will lead you step by step through a book making technique that will allow you to create a handmade journal using different types of paper you may have lying around; this will include, card board, junk mail, vintage papers, old magazines, watercolor paper and art paper. We call this a “Art Junk Journal”. The wonderful thing about a junk journal is that it creates freedom to really express yourself, to embrace imperfections, be quirky, asymmetrical and have fun. You will learn how to select your paper, put together and sew the signatures, sew the signatures into the cover and how to prepare the pages for your first art journaling ,in your new Art Junk Journal. Start collecting those junk papers and come join us to create this one of a kind art journal. We will also be offering a Getting Started with Backgrounds in Your ArtJournal Workshop on March 30th. This will be an opportunity to learn techniques to begin covering the blank pages of your Junk Journal, hope to see you in both workshops!

About the Artists
Twin sisters and artists, Sharen Chatterton and Karen Rester are unique in their own respective creative processes and when working together, bring magic to whatever they are doing. Their Art is as varied and eclectic as they are. “It is all about listening to the wisdom of your soul.” Whether painting in acrylics, watercolor, sculpting with clay, spinning, weaving or mixing it up creating a mixed media piece, it is a journey, a path that they have created together. Every art book they have created is filled with their heart and soul. Every piece of art is imagined with color. texture and feeling, to bring forward an emotional response from the viewer. “We like to think that every paint stroke brings energy and light to the piece. Each is a journey, unique and ever evolving.”
About Teaching
“As a teacher, we believe that being creative is a choice and anyone who chooses to take that leap into feeling free to express their artistic abilities, with us, will have fun and make their own unique art. In our workshops, we provide a place for you to choose your colors, your words, a place that allows you to express your unique self, exploring our bag of tricks and techniques and then using any or all that you choose.”
Education
“We have been artists all our life and taught for a good part of it. We have taken and taught mixed media, watercolor, and art healing workshops in Texas, New Mexico and Online, for many years. We work in acrylics, watercolors, mixed media and fiber, producing artwork as well as teaching classes in each. “
