Goals: A demonstration of techniques, skills, tools, and materials, to fully use your palette to get bright, clear, deep colors in your oil paintings. It would be expected that each participant would be able to create one or more paintings to take home with them.
We will most likely start to paint two or more paintings during this workshop as there is a drying time between layers that is integral to the process.

About the Instructor

Jeffrey Neel McDaniel, A.F.C.

Art from the Coast of Texas and Elsewhere...I believe art enriches and improves our lives.

My art is inspired by the natural beauty of the South Texas Coast, Big Bend, and the Texas Hill Country, especially around the Laguna Madre, the Chisos Mountains, and the Frio River.

I am pleased to acknowledge my acceptance as a Signature Artist into the Artists For Conservation Group, an international group of artists using their art to promote conservation...

This group consists of 500 artists from 30 countries, and includes such luminaries as Robert Bateman, Guy Harvey, Guy Coheleach, John and Susie  Seerey-Lester, and Kathleen Dunphy.  I am grateful, humbled, and honored by this event.

A long time native of Corpus Christi, I now split my time between there and the Frio River. I live with my wife, Jessica, amid an ever changing menagerie of animals. In addition to painting, I enjoy fishing, golfing, music, photography, birding, reading, and joking around with family and friends.

I also volunteer my services as the captain of the search and rescue boat, the “Laguna Mermaid”, for the Texas Sealife Center.  When not engaging in these activities, I work as a Licensed Professional Counselor, specializing in trauma and crisis counseling.

Painting is a great stress reliever for me, but the urge to paint is driven by the marvel and mystery of the natural world around me.  I express my wonder, curiosity, and gratitude through my art, and hope people feel a connection to nature when they view my paintings and sculpture.
