STILL WATER FOUNDATION AWARDS $500,000 GRANT TO ROCKPORT CENTER FOR THE ARTS

Rockport, TX) Rockport Center for the Arts is sad to announce that our former home, located at 902 Navigation Circle, will soon be razed due to damages resulting from Hurricane Harvey.

The Rebuild Texas Fund recently awarded the Rockport Center for the Arts a grant in the amount of $500,000 to aid in rebuilding efforts after hurricane Harvey destroyed the Art Center facility, located on Aransas Bay last August.

BIRDS IN ART, a Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum annual traveling exhibit, opens to the general public Sunday, September 17 at 11am. Members Only pre opening on Saturday.

This year's six Merit Artist are George Ann Johnson, Joan Laughlin, Elena Rodriguez, Joyce McAdams, Rick Workman, and Sheila Gritte. Their group show, STANDING OUT will run August 5 thru September 7, 2017.

Ellen Heck, fine art printmaker, commences residency at Rockport Center for the Arts.

Artist-in-residence, heck, will exhibit work in the main gallery from October 15 - November 19, 2016 and will facilitate workshops at the Art Center and local area high school.

Chispa Bluntzer's colorful and figurative alterpieces tell romantic stories. Her first solo show at Rockport Center for the Arts, MY TWO WORLDS, Opens September 10.
Lotus McElfish's show, HIERBAS CURATIVAS - HEALING HERBS OF THE MEXICAN CURANDERISMO TRADITION will show concurrently in the Garden Gallery. Shows run through October 8.
