An Original Bead Embroidery Design by Connie Bradley

Thursdays, March 31-April 14, 9:30AM - 12:30PM
638 E Market Street in Rockport, Texas.

$80 for Members, $95 for Nonmembers.

 
 

Bead Design

Class #1:

·       Introduction to beading materials 

o   Bead types and sizes

o   Needle and thread

o   Embellishments

o   Other materials, including beading foundation and backing

o   Findings

·       Step 1 – Use beaded backstitch and peyote stitch to create a beaded bezel around the mermaid focal.

Class #2

·       Step 2 – Embellish the pendant with shells and additional beads.

·       Step 3 – Add the backing and finish with brick stitch edging.

Class #3

·       Step 4 – Create tassel and add to pendant.

·       Step 5 – Weave necklace strap using a variation of St. Petersburg stitch.  

Class fee includes one custom polymer clay and resin focal, embroidery foundation, and embroidery backing.  The focals are handmade by the instructor in the student’s image of choice.  A PDF file with the available images is attached.

Optional kits including all additional materials needed to complete the project are available for $54.  Contact the instructor for more information.

A supply list is attached for students wishing to select and purchase their own materials.

About the Instructor

Connie Bradley has been beading since 1994.  She works primarily with seed beads and loves the challenges and possibilities they provide. 

She has a BS in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University and an MBA from the University of Houston. She retired from a career in the oil industry in 2017 and moved to Rockport full time with her husband and their two dogs in 2018.

She loves to create and teach her original designs.  Many of her pieces have been donated to local non-profits for auction.  Two of her designs have been published in Beadwork magazine.

She currently serves as President of the Little Bay Beaders, a non-profit bead society based in Rockport, Texas.
