Workshop Description:
Join international artist Jorge Puron as he teaches you the techniques and how to use tools necessary to achieve the “super hard edge” look with acrylic paint. The hard edge technique creates surface tension in a painting via positive and negative space. Jorge will teach workshop attendees to draw with tape and his tricks for achieving his signature style,

Found colors of acrylic paint (at minimum) No heavy body paint, house paint sold at hardware stores in sample sizes also work well. Matte paint works best.

One rag for constant clean up of brush
One canvas for their final project 24” x 24” or smaller. Canvas should be gessoed, stretched and ready to paint.
One fine hobby knife or x-acto knife (optional)
About the Instructor
Jorge Purón (b. 1969, Piedras Negras, Mexico) is a self-informed painter who lives and works in San Antonio, Texas. His art is influenced by a life lived on both sides of the US-Mexico border. With over 100 national and international solo and group exhibitions, his work has been shown at the Museum of Geometric and MADI Art in Dallas, Texas; Museo Alameda in San Antonio, Texas; Brownsville Museum of Fine Art in Brownsville, Texas; El Paso Museum of Art in El Paso, Texas; Museo Reyes Meza in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico; Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, among others. In 2002, he co-founded Jardin del Arte a project to promote artists in San Miguel de Allende, and in 2010, he was appointed Advisor to the Municipal Council of Culture in the border city of Piedras Negras, Mexico. In 2013, Purón received the Erick Schaudies Memorial Award at K Space Contemporary in Corpus Christi, Texas, the top prize for Third Coast National juried exhibition. A consistent collaborator with other US-Mexico border artists, his work was currently featured in documented exhibits: Un Provincial & Borderwave in 2016. His work is part of private and corporate collections in North America and Europe. He has also worked in cinema as an Art Director and Set Designer for independent short and full-length films. Most recently, his work was selected for the juried Biennial: Origins in Geometric Art, (2017)
