Join us, Artist’s and twin sister’s Sharen Chatterton and Karen Rester on this unique, creative mixed media journey. Our goal is to take you on the path to truly listening to and hearing your inner heart. Allowing that voice to come out through color, images and words, onto your Heart Self piece. This is the time to allow yourself to express your unique creative energy, by bringing out your inner self, through this mixed media art process.

“The one thing that I have that nobody else has is me. My voice, my mind, my story, my vision. So, I will write and draw, paint and build, play and dance and live only as I can.”

You will travel your unique path, where you will uncover colors, words and images of your inner Heart . This workshop will provide a creative space to be inside the mixed media process with color, paint and collage, while speaking through your own inner voice and letting it flow into your unique piece.

In this workshop, we will lead you through the steps to create your mixed media Heart Self. Each person will use the provided silhouette, to bring their heart self to "life", using mixed media techniques, ribbons, yarns and information from the Gatherings for your Heart Self Worksheet, provide to you (through email or pick up). The silhouette and the wooden stand for creating your Heart Self will be provided by us.

You are each encouraged to personalize your Heart Self by gathering and having available, paper, paints, images to put on her body, as well as trinkets, bangles, beads, stones, etc., these items will be used to personalize and bring out your Heart Self. Your Gatherings Worksheet will be your starting point for knowing what things to gather for your unique Heart Self piece, this will be emailed or available for pick up.

No experience necessary, just a desire to get creative and bring your Heart Self to "life"!

About the Artists

Twin sisters and artists, Sharen Chatterton and Karen Rester are unique in their own respective creative processes and when working together, bring magic to whatever they are doing. Their Art is as varied and eclectic as they are. “It is all about listening to the wisdom of your soul.” Whether painting in acrylics, watercolor, sculpting with clay, spinning, weaving or mixing it up creating a mixed media piece, it is a journey, a path that they have created together. Every art book they have created is filled with their heart and soul. Every piece of art is imagined with color. texture and feeling, to bring forward an emotional response from the viewer. “We like to think that every paint stroke brings energy and light to the piece. Each is a journey, unique and ever evolving.”

About Teaching

“As a teacher, we believe that being creative is a choice and anyone who chooses to take that leap into feeling free to express their artistic abilities, with us, will have fun and make their own unique art. In our workshops, we provide a place for you to choose your colors, your words, a place that allows you to express your unique self, exploring our bag of tricks and techniques and then using any or all that you choose.”

Education

“We have been artists all our life and taught for a good part of it. We have taken and taught mixed media, watercolor, and art healing workshops in Texas, New Mexico and Online, for many years. We work in acrylics, watercolors, mixed media and fiber, producing artwork as well as teaching classes in each. “
