A Message from Karen Ernst, Deputy Director

Dear members,

The moment we have all be waiting anxiously for is almost here, the grand opening of our new home in the heart of downtown Rockport! The opening of our new campus is a landmark event in our art center community's history and we hope you will join us for this monumental occasion.

To celebrate and honor our member artists, we are excited to announce that the first exhibitions in all three of our beautiful new exhibit spaces will feature artwork made exclusively by member artists.

Two exhibitions - The Big Wave! and Miniatures - will feature new works by you, our esteemed member artists. These exhibitions will take place in the H-E-B Gallery and the Mendez Family Gallery, respectively. The third exhibition, Standing Out 2023, our merit artist competition exhibition, will be held in the McKelvey Charitable Fund Gallery. This exhibition will feature work by member artists selected from last winter's all-member exhibition.

And when is all this excitement happening you ask? While we are not quite ready to announce the grand opening date, we have set the dates for your first art drop off at the new campus (how exciting is that?!) for October 20-22. October will be here before we know it, so we hope you will start creating new masterpieces to bring to exhibit in your beautiful new art center!

One last note, to participate in these exhibitions you must be a member. If you are not sure about your membership status, please give us a call and we'll be happy to help you. You can reach us at the office at 361-450-8022. If you are not yet a member we have good news for you, it is not too late. We invite you to join us now and participate in our opening celebration exhibitions later this fall. You can read more about membership by clicking here.

We've had quite an adventure since Harvey displaced us from our Art Center home, but the next chapter is just a couple months away and together we will make it the best chapter yet!

Sincerely,
Karen Ernst
Deputy Director
