A Message from Luis Purón, Executive Director
Dear Patrons of the Arts:
The kids are back at school, and although the summer heat hasn’t let up for months, a change of season is inevitable.
So, what’s in store for you this Fall?
For starters, you will see three new shows in the next 4 weeks. The H-E-B Gallery will feature the work of Wimberley based artist McKay Otto. His show Ever Legacies Ever will be a feast for the eyes. The Jeanie and Bill Wyatt Gallery will feature the sculptural work of Birds in Art alumni Spencer Tinkham. Spencer will be visiting us from the East Coast and will be imparting workshops offered for members only during his brief residency. The McKelvey Charitable Fund Gallery will feature intricate box collages by Mary Jenewein who has put a lifetime of experience into each creation.
On September 22-23, the Mary and John Willrodt Gift Shop will feature a trunk show by Texas metalsmith Dian Malouf. Stop by the gift shop to try on one of Dian’s spectacular rings while you peruse other silver creations by local jewelry designers Diane Johnson, Teenya Barnard, and Lori Fisher.
On October 26, we will be hosting the 6th Annual Women on the Verge of a Silver Meltdown. This year’s event will feature 7 silversmiths and will continue with the original concept of a runway event combined with a trunk show. The Silver Meltdown is the hottest ticket in town, and you must be an active member to receive an invitation to attend. The event will be held at The ROCC and is limited to 200 guests.
In mid-November we turn our attention to film and the Rockport Film Festival. Our partnership with the Rotary Club of Rockport brings you the power of storytelling in cinema, and this year’s event, also to be held at The ROCC, promises to be very exciting starting with the Red-Carpet Party.
I look forward to seeing you at one or all these events.
Yours truly,
Luis Purón
Executive Director
