In a recent 'Hints from Heloise' article, a reader wrote in and had the following to say about storing works of art:
"As a conservator, I want to offer ideas on storing framed and matted works of art. For long-term storage, it's not recommended to keep works in bubbly wrap (the plastic isn't chemically stable over time). It's safe to use for shipping but never in storage. I also wouldn't recommend that any piece be tightly wrapped. Pictures and the material that is used to mat the art need to be able to breathe. But it's not recommended that a piece be left uncovered or exposed to excessive air. Storing art in archival boxes in a vertical position is best." Linda Edquist
