In May, RCA hosted two of the world’s foremost sculptors for a two-artist show that opened on May 16: National Medal of Arts recipient and Rockport resident
Jesús Moroles, and internationally acclaimed wildlife sculptorKent Ullberg(who maintains a gallery and studio in Corpus Christi). The show allowed patrons and art lovers the chance to listen and visit with two artists whose sculptures permanently anchor RCA’s Sculpture Garden, along with many other locations across the country and globe. Both Moroles and Ullberg discussed their inspirations for working on such large-scale projects, their reasons for living and working in the Rockport area, as well as upcoming projects in places such as Omaha, Nebraska, where both artists’ outdoor installations will be within close proximity of one another. A tremendous event for Art Center, both Moroles and Ullberg remind us of the artistic legacy Rockport is connected to—along with seeing an inspiring collaboration between two world-renowned artists.
