ROCKPORT CENTER FOR THE ARTS APPOINTS KAREN ERNST AS DEPUTY DIRECTOR

ROCKPORT, Texas (October 27, 2020)  Rockport Center for the Arts announces the promotion of Karen Ernst to Deputy Director.

In her expanded role, Ernst will assist the Executive Director in overall management of the organization with responsibilities focused on leadership, strategic plan implementation, program management and operations. She will continue to manage the Center’s education programming including the popular FREE Family Saturdays and ArtSpace Summer Youth Programs.

“Karen has proven herself to be an outstanding strategic thinker and a builder of excellent relationships,” notes Luis Purón, Executive Director of Rockport Center for the Arts. “For 14 years she has proven herself by taking on new challenges and handling them with great attention to detail and an eye for profitability.”

Ernst has over 17 years of professional experience in the nonprofit fine arts sector. She holds an MBA from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, a Masters in Music Theory from the University of Kansas and ABD in Music Theory from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Bachelors in Instrumental Music Education from Nebraska Wesleyan University.
